On our desk, CENT is screening as an attractive spinout arbitrage play. Trading at roughly an 8x P/FCF with a ~12.6% FCF yield, the market is severely discounting the cleaner business mix achieved after shedding low-margin pet distribution. We are eyeing a multiple expansion target as the portfolio shift filters through consensus numbers.
Reviewing the Q3 fiscal 2026 numbers, reported net sales fell 8% to $882 million due to the distribution divestiture, but organic net sales rose 2.4%. Gross margins expanded to 35.9%, and management raised non-GAAP EPS guidance to $2.85 or better. The fundamental execution is visibly improving despite headline revenue drops.
From a broader value perspective, I remain cautious. CENT looks more like a hold given stagnant growth and garden segment margin compression. While they hold significant cash reserves, lack of aggressive buybacks or immediate transformative actions outside the TRIXIE acquisition keeps me from rating this a high-conviction growth play.
The upcoming integration of TRIXIE Heimtierbedarf following the definitive agreement to acquire a majority interest is a critical catalyst to watch. Combined with roughly $1.0 billion in cash and cash equivalents against $1.19 billion in long-term debt, the balance sheet provides ample flexibility to absorb and scale European pet operations.
Our momentum metrics show recent strength, with a ~19.66% 90-day return and a ~37.93% year-to-date share price surge heading into the Q3 earnings print. Sentiment has clearly turned favorable as investors reward management's focus on profitability over pure top-line distribution volume.
